Better Friend — Privacy Policy

Better Friend ("the app"), published by Sycamore Hill Studios, is designed so that your data never leaves your phone.

What the app stores

The people you add, their important dates, notes, message excerpts you choose to share into the app, and your reminder history are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. We have no server, no account system, and no copy of your data. Device backups are deliberately disabled for this app — the only way data leaves it is the manual JSON export you trigger yourself, saved to a location you choose.

No collection, no tracking

• No data collection. The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with us or with third parties.
• No accounts, no ads, no analytics. There is no sign-up, no advertising, and no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
• Contacts. If you add someone from your contacts, the app uses the system contact picker: it can read only the single contact you pick, and Better Friend never requests permission to read your contact list.
• Messages. The app cannot read your messages. It only receives text you explicitly share to it, and stores that text on-device.

Network use

The app makes exactly two kinds of network connection, neither of which carries your personal data to us:

• On-device text model. A one-time download of Google's ML Kit entity-extraction model, so dates can be recognized in shared text entirely on your device. The text you share is never uploaded.
• Google Play billing. The optional Better Friend Plus subscription is processed entirely by Google Play. The app never sees or stores your payment details. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app permanently removes everything it stored. There is no copy anywhere else, so there is nothing further to request or delete.

Children

The app is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
