Privacy Policy

Celestia (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is an astrology, horoscope and tarot app published by Celestia. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Profile details: name (or nickname), date of birth, optional time and place of birth, and interests you select during onboarding.
- Chat messages you send to the in-app “Ask Celestia” AI guide.
- Tarot readings and dream journal entries you create.
- Notification preferences you toggle in Settings.
All of the above is stored locally on your device in an encrypted Room database and in Android DataStore preferences. We only send what is strictly necessary to generate your horoscopes, tarot interpretations, and chat replies to our backend (see §2).
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device identifiers: a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token used to deliver push notifications. This token can be reset by clearing app data.
- Usage analytics: aggregated counts of app opens, screen views, readings completed, and session durations via Firebase Analytics. These are used to improve the product and are not tied to your name or identity.
- Crash reports: anonymized stack traces via Firebase Crashlytics.
- Billing: Google Play handles all purchase details. We only receive a purchase token that tells us whether you have an active subscription.
1.3 Information we do NOT collect
- Precise location (GPS). “Place of birth” is stored as free text you type.
- Contacts, photos, call logs, SMS, microphone, or camera data.
- Your Google or Apple account password.
- Payment card data. All payments are processed by Google Play.
2. How we use your information
- To generate your horoscope, birth chart, tarot readings, and compatibility reports: we send your sun sign, birth date, and (if provided) birth time to our backend, which calls a third-party large-language-model provider (see §3) to produce text. The generated text is cached on your device.
- To deliver the chat feature: your message and short conversation history are sent to the LLM provider to generate a reply.
- To send notifications: daily horoscope reminders, tarot reminders, moon phase alerts, planetary events, weekly forecasts, and re-engagement nudges. You can disable any of these in Settings → Notifications.
- To synthesize audio readings: your horoscope or tarot text is sent to our Text-to-Speech provider, which returns an MP3 streamed back to the app.
- To deliver subscriptions: we rely on Google Play Billing to process and validate purchases and to grant Premium entitlement.
3. Third-party services
Celestia uses the following service providers, each subject to their own privacy policy:

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
4. Data retention
- Profile data, readings, and dream journal entries are retained on your device until you uninstall the app or use Settings → Clear my data.
- Horoscope / tarot / audio caches on our backend are keyed by sun sign and date — they contain no personal identifier and are retained up to 30 days.
- Analytics and crash data are retained per Firebase defaults (currently 14 months and 90 days respectively).
5. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct or delete that data;
- object to processing or withdraw consent;
- port your data to another service;
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@celestia.app. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Children
Celestia is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
All traffic to our backend uses HTTPS/TLS. On-device data is stored in the app’s sandboxed storage. Google Play Billing handles all payment data. We cannot access your payment card or Google account.
8. Subscriptions
Celestia offers auto-renewing subscriptions (Weekly, Monthly, Annual) with a 3-day free trial. Subscriptions are billed through your Google Play account. You can manage or cancel at any time in your Google Play subscriptions screen. Cancelling stops future renewals; your current billing period is not refunded on a pro-rata basis (except where required by law).
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the most recent revision.
