Overview

Daily Dossier ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All of your learning data is stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. This includes:

• Topics you've chosen to learn
• Generated briefing content
• Quiz responses and scores
• Knowledge graph (concepts and connections)
• Streak and achievement progress
• App preferences (notification time, etc.)

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it.

Data Sent to Third-Party Services

To generate personalized briefings, the App sends the following to Azure OpenAI (Microsoft):

• Your chosen topic name
• A list of concepts you've already learned (for continuity)
• Your current difficulty level

No personally identifiable information (name, email, location, etc.) is included in these requests. See Microsoft's Azure OpenAI data privacy policy for details on how they handle API requests.

Advertising

The free tier of Daily Dossier displays ads served by Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

Paid subscribers (Plus and Pro) do not see ads, and no ad-related data is collected for those users.

In-App Purchases

Subscription purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not collect or store any payment information. See Google's Privacy Policy for payment data handling.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number
• We do not require account creation
• We do not track your location
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing
• We do not use analytics tracking (no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, etc.)

Data Retention

All learning data is stored on your device and persists until you uninstall the App or clear its data. We have no server-side storage of your learning data.

Children's Privacy

Daily Dossier is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we do not collect personal information from any users, no special provisions are necessary under COPPA.

Your Rights

• Access: All your data is on your device — you can view it anytime in the App.
• Deletion: Uninstall the App or clear its data in Android Settings to delete all stored data.
• Portability: Pro subscribers can export their data as CSV.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and on this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
