FernDeck — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

FernDeck ("the app"), published by Sycamore Hill Studios, is a local-only app. There is no account system, no server of ours, and no copy of your data anywhere we can see.

What the app stores

The decks you create (name, emoji, colour) and the cards inside them (the front and back text you type) are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage (a local database). Your review progress — when a card is next due, its interval, ease and review count — and your notification preferences are stored the same way. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party.

No collection, no tracking

Permissions

Network use

FernDeck works fully offline. It has no network features of its own. The Android INTERNET and network-state permissions appear in the app because Google Play's billing library requires them; the only network traffic is Google Play billing, and only if you choose to leave a tip. Tips are consumable purchases processed entirely by Google Play — the app never sees or stores your payment details. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Device backup

The app uses Android's standard app-data backup. If you have backup enabled for your device, your decks and cards may be included in the backup Android makes to your own Google account, and restored when you set up a new device. That backup is between you, your device and Google — we have no access to it. You can turn it off in your device's system settings under Backup.

Deleting your data

Deleting a deck or card removes it immediately. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on the device. There is no copy on our side, so there is nothing further to request or delete.

Children

The app is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
