Reclaim ("the app"), published by Sycamore Hill Studios, helps people reduce or stop gambling. Recovery data is sensitive, so the app is built privacy-first: we collect the minimum a feature needs, encrypt your data on your device, and never sell it or use it for advertising.
Profile (quit date, average spend, optional recovery context), streak and relapse history, mood/urge check-ins, coping-tool usage, notification and theme settings, an optional trusted contact, and your chat history. This lives in a SQLCipher-encrypted database whose key is created on your device and held in Android's Keystore. We have no access to it.
When you send a chat message, the recent conversation is sent over TLS to our backend, which forwards it to Microsoft Azure OpenAI (acting as our processor) to generate a reply. Optional personalisation (e.g. your streak length or triggers) is included only if you opt in in Settings. Chat content is not stored on our servers — it is processed to produce the reply and discarded. Replies are stored only on your device.
The community is off until you join by choosing a pseudonymous handle — no real name, no location. If you join, the content you choose to share is stored on our backend until you delete it: your handle, milestone posts, kudos, friend connections, friends-only private messages, and any reports you make. Milestone auto-sharing is a separate opt-in. Reported content may be reviewed by a human moderator for community safety.
A random per-install identifier and a Google Play Integrity attestation are used to authenticate the app to our backend and rate-limit requests. They do not identify you personally.
Every feature is free. Optional tips are processed entirely by Google Play's billing system; we never see or store your payment details. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Reclaim is intended for adults aged 18+ and is not directed at children.
Reclaim provides peer-style support and self-help tools. It is not medical treatment or therapy and is no substitute for professional help. If you are in crisis, use the in-app Crisis resources or contact your local emergency services.
